Heat pumps can be up to 4 x more efficient that a traditional boiler system!
You could be applicable to up to £7,500 of the cost of an air source heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade System
Air Source Heat Pump savings vary but you can expect to save between £400 and £1,500 annually.
Air source heat pumps are an environmentally friendly alternative to your existing boiler system. It works by extracting air from the outside transferring it into energy that heats your home and hot water.
Using a refrigerant system, it absorbs heat (even in cold weather), compresses it to a high temperature and releases it indoors through radiators, underfloor heating or a hot water tank.
They’re energy efficient, working best and more cost effective with it running at a constant low room temperature. Heat pumps can be up to 4 x more efficient that a traditional boiler system!
How much does an air source heat pump cost?
Installation of an air source heat pump varies. As part of your installation with Stamford Radiators we will do a consultation (in person or virtual dependent on location) where we will discuss options and works to be done. After the initial consultation we’ll be able to provide you with a cost estimate.
What is the Government Grant for installations of Air Source Heat Pumps?
As part of the Governments Net Zero ambitions, air source heat pump grants are the Boiler Upgrade Scheme which provides a £7,500 grant towards the cost and installation of your heat pump. We apply for the grant on your behalf and it will be deducted from your quote.
How long will the installation take?
Installations vary dependent on the scale of the works. Typically, allow 2 – 3 days for the full installation.
Do I need to upgrade my radiators or insulation as part of the installation process?
You don’t need to. ASHPs work best with underfloor heating or larger radiators but can work with your existing heating.
What happens to my existing boiler?
We will de commission your existing boiler and take it away with us so you don’t have to worry about having it removed.
Where will my air source heat pump be located?
Your air source heat pump will be located outside of your property. As part of your initial consultation, we will review the best location at your home. We do require a hard footing for your air source heat pump to be placed on.
What maintenance is required?
Similarly to your boiler, annual servicing is recommended.
Are Air Source Heat Pumps noisy?
Modern units are quiet and must meet noise regulations in residential areas.
Do I need planning permission to install and air source heat pump?
In most UK homes no permissions are required but there can be exceptions, for example listed buildings or flats. If required, we’ll discuss this with you during your initial consultation.
Where are air source heat pumps best located on my property?
Location is important for efficiency and noise control. Ideally the unit is positioned on a solid external wall or flat surface close to where the heat is needed. Air source heat pumps require a constant flow of air and so should avoid tight corners, walls or fences that might limit airflow. Whilst air source heat pumps are quiet, there is some noise from the fan which may be noticeable so we’ll also consider best location based on this.
How long do air source heat pumps last?
Typically 15 – 20 years with regular maintenance
